Ground Cover as an Irrigation Solution

Question
Good morning!

I live in Georgia (with all that great clay!)

I am dealing with the following:

I have a small backyard - 20' x 8' that has terrible drainage.  Water from Saturday afternoon has still to finish draining as of this Monday morning.

About half of the yard is flower bed and the rest needs some ground cover.  Some ideas that I've been thinking over are laying pea gravel or rocks to help with the drainage.  Do you have any suggestions for a ground cover that may help with irrigation and drainage?

Thank you,

Steve

Answer
STEVE, YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE PEA GRAVEL FOR DRAINAGE. OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD THE BEST GROUND COVER THAT WILL TAKE ALL THE WATER YOU WILL GIVE IT THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING CALLED PACHESANDRA. I KNOW THE SPELLING IS WRONG, BUT THIS STUFF CAN TAKE A LOT OF WATER. IT IS PRONOOUNCE PACK-A-SANDRA.
IF I THINK OF ANOTHER I'LL LET YOU KNOW

THANKS

        JAMES
