pumping water

Question
I live in North Ohio on a small lake (about 70 acres).

I would like to water my lawn, 200ft by 60ft, but since i have a well i would like to pump the water direct from the lake.
There is a sharp incline from the lake to the front of the lawn of about 30ft.  The distance from the lake to the front of the lawn is about 300ft.

I would like to know how big (horsepower?)a pump I would need to get a water flow thru a garden hose to a sprinkler on the lawn.

Answer
J,
a 3/4 HP pump will give you plenty of water if you just need a hose. you have to remember that it will use a lot of electric and you will probably want a dedicated breaker for it, also some kind of switch to turn the pump on and off, also a foot valve on the end of the suction line. there are some other things to consider, but these are the main ones.

     thanks, Jim
