Pump Delay Feature BACKWARDS!!

Question
Hello Jim just want to thank you for taking your time and helping us amateurs in our sprinkler adventures!

Just installed a 3 zone sprinkler system for my house with city water.  I don't know much about electricity so I went with 1 HP FLOTEC pump (converted to 110V) a pump relay (also wired at 110V) and a TORO ECXTRA timer and put up a little shed where I store the Extension cord to keep it from getting wet.  The problem I'm having is when the timer turns on any station, the pump delay feature on the timer seems to be inverted.  The pump immediately turns on and according to delay in seconds, the valves open up then.  So I have it set at 2 seconds pump delay (lowest setting) and as soon as it is time for the sprinklers to go on, the pump starts, 2 second delay, and the valve opens up.  Did I maybe wire it wrong?

Thanks,

Answer
Hey Alejandro, I hope this helps. First thing I would do is un-hook the wire to the pump start/or Master Valve terminal at the controller. Then I would turn each valve on one at a time to see if they come on in sequence. If when you turn a station on, lets say #1 and the pump comes on, that tells me you wired the pump start relay wire to # 1 instead of to the pump start/master valve terminal. Go through each valve #1, #2 and #3 to see if the pump comes on if any of these is turned on. If the pump kicks in when you turn that # on then thats the wire you want to use. If the pump never kicks in, with the relay wire disconnected, then you probably wired it okay. If you keep having this problem, I would have them check it at a irrigation supply store to make sure it is not defective, they will probably check it for free.I hope this helps and have a great day.
