Hunter irrigation problem

Question
I have a Hunter irrigation system for two years.  Controller is a pro-c with a submersible pump.  I am getting P error or the zone numbers i.e. numbers 1-8 err.  I have stripped all splices and re-tied to all zones.  I ran 28 volts down to the pump start relay, manually opened a zone, pump came on and began irrigating. Telling me the PSR and the pump is fine. I have also checked the ohms on the controller which appear fine.  Where do I go from here?

Answer
Hey Steve, I hope this helps. Did you disconnect the old wires from the pump start terminal on the controller when you hooked the relay to a new electrical source? The first thing I would check, is the wires running from the controller to the pump start relay, to see if they are shorting out somewhere. Try un-hooking the wire from the pump start relay terminal, and then turn each valve on manually, and see if you get a err message on any of the valves. If you do, then it is either a solenoid shorting out, a wire shorting out, or the controller is shorting out. Also, hook the wire back up to the pump start terminal, and when you turn on a station, do you get an err message. It's a matter of trial and error. If you get an err message with the wire hooked to the pump start terminal, but the relay is not hooked up, then the short is in the wire. If you get an err message with the wire un-hooked from the pump start terminal, then the controller is bad. If you get an err message when you turn valve #3 on (example) then either the solenoid or wires running to valve #3 are shorting out. Let me know if I can be of anymore help, thanks nad have a great day.
