Yikes! Nothing working!

Question
QUESTION: I had my sprinklers reactivated about a month ago and they worked fine for 2 weeks. Then everything stopped working. I had the irrigation company we use come out and he said I needed a new timer (charging me $400). I got a Hunter Pro-C and installed it myself today. The control seems to work fine, but still none of my 5 zones will come on. I went into each box to see if there might be a wire disconnected, but they all seem to be connected - I even replaced some wire nuts on the common wires just for fun. My water is on - checked the run off valve and it's blasting. Re-checked the wiring on the new control and they all seem to be in place. Any suggestions? I have a box sitting on the side of the house by Aqua-someone, but I think that's connected to my water meter and don't think it could be that.
Thank you for any help you might be able to give me.

ANSWER: Do you have a rain sensor or mastervalve on the system?

QUESTION: No rain sensor. I'm not sure about a master valve? Where would I look? I inherited this system.

ANSWER: A mastervalve is a valve that is down stream of the backflow device but upstream of any zone valves. When you removed the old timer what terminals were used besides "COM" and "1-5" was there a "MV" or any other terminal that had a wire going to it? Have you experienced any power outages or surges? Take a picture of your wiring in the new controller or let me know what terminals you are using and what is the color of your common wire. You said you have a box on the side of the house, what is inside the box? valves, pump??

QUESTION: No power failures or surges that I know of. The box on the side of the house has a wire going to the meter and is marked "Neptune." I'm assuming that it has to do with the water meter? But it does seem to have some kind of circuit board inside, so I don't know what that's for. I'm not sure if I do I have a pump or not?

Answer
Hello,

Your red wire is indicating you have a pump or mastervalve on the system. If I were troubleshooting I would start there since your timer is new. If you have a pump then there should be a relay start for it somewhere unless it is on a flow switch.  If it is a mastervalve you may just need to replace a simple solenoid. Thanks for taking the picture that did help out. If you can take a picture of the box on the side of the house and a picture of your valves and backflow area that would be appreciated.

Bob
