Question
QUESTION: Hi!  Hope you can help.  Having trouble with one station.  Controller says it's on but no water.  It's the last station on the system.  So, I guess it's not a fuse, right?  Where are the valves exactly located?  I'm not sure how to find them to follow the troubleshooting stuff.  Any help appreciated - thanks!

ANSWER: Hi Deb

The problem should be the valve selenoid. Usually the valves are located underground inside a valve box close to the controller or water source. Look for a green cover could be a rectangle or several small round shaped if each valve has a box. Replace the selenoid it cost about $ 10 at Home Depot or Lowels. Inside the controller each valve zone has a colored wire, the color for the last station  on the controller will be the same at the valve box.

QUESTION: Guillermo,

That was very helpful so now I need to find the box underground, I guess.  No external indicators as to where it is.  Any tips on finding it or do I just start digging?  The control box is inside the garage on an exterior wall.  Should I look right below that location in the yard outside?  Use something to poke around for it?  How deep would it be? There is a control valve box out front that has water in it and one shut-off valve but that's not what I'm looking for, right? Is water standing in that control box normal or should I be concerned about that, too?  Many thanks.  We'll get to the bottom of this - I know!

Answer
Hi Deb

The valve wires should go from the controller to the valves, so there will be a pipe from the controller to the other side of the wall, where the pipe meets the ground the box should be close. Often the box get covered by grass, dirt or mulch. But should be no more than 6" you can poke and will ear the sound when hits the plastic cover. Some times the water from rain or other sources get into the boxes. Some times means a leak. That control valve box with water could be the valve box, take out the water and the dirt and you will find your valves. Don't be afraid for the electricity if the controller is off and when is running only delivers 24V. Some installations has a shut off valve before the valves for maintenance.
