Found tons of tubers in garden of rental home

Question
New groth on unknown tuber
New groth on unknown t
Hi,

I was digging up soil at the house I recently rented to plant a veggie garden and found TONS of what I think are tubers but I have no idea what kind. The looked extremely similar to a sweet potato in size and shape but the flesh inside was very white. I did not keep them to photograph, but I have left a couple growing. Image shows new growth. Any idea what it is? THANK YOU!

Answer
Most plants are classified by the structure of the flowers they produce...Plants that grow in your area do not necessarily grow in other areas...Send me pictures of the plant when it flowers...It could be a Peony...It may actually be a potato variety...
For a quicker answer I would recommend you take a sample of a section of the plant and the tuber to a local garden center (Not chain store)...Ask them if they can ID it...You may have to visit more than one to find someone knowledgeable...
Good luck,
Rick in southern NJ
