Patio Tomatoes in Texas

Question
Hi, Bill!

I am new to growing vegetables and a few months ago started some tomatoes from seed in my apartment, in front of a west facing window.  They are now about 12-18" high, in seperate pots, and have been transferred to my patio deck here in Fort Worth. It's getting cooler(finely!) now that it's September.  I am just wondering whether, at this late date, can I still expect to get some tomatoes, or am I likely to just get lush green foliage that continues to get taller?  Is there a season to this or - as I thought I heard elsewhere - is it possible to grow tomatoes yearound in warm climates like we have here?

Thanks for your feedback -

Answer
Hi Rick, I checked with the National Weather Service for your area and I see that temperatures go below 50 degrees before October is over, most tomatoes even patio need longer growing time than that . try them outside but be ready to haul them in when temperatures go below 50!
