What is the best way to ripen green tomatoes that just don't seem to finish ripening on the vine this time of year?  Thanks

We do three things with green tomatoes at the end of the season.  One, we have fried green tomatoes.  Two, set them in a sunny window sill.  Three, wrap them in newspapers for a few days and that sometimes speeds the ripening.
