black color on bell pepper plants

Question
I'm growing 6 bell pepper plants (orange and red) in a mix of cow manure, peat humus, and rich soil. The leaves are a lighter green than I'd like, so I'm watering them in early morning and in the evening. I noticed last week that they have a streaky black color at the joints of branches, but they've each got a number of flowers on them now, so is it anything to worry about?

Thanks,

Everett

Answer
Dear Everett,
If the plants are standing strong and supporting their weight, then that sounds good.  Your description of care for them sounds almost too rich.  Try backing off of the water in the morning and see what happens.  Water is the easiest variable to change, as the change is visible quickly.  If anything changes negatively, resume your previous routine.
I hope you are enjoying fresh peppers soon.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
