Bell Pepper Plants

Question
I am growing bell peppers and they are only a few inches tall. I live in Galveston so it's HOT and we have not had rain in a long time but this morning I had mushrooms in two of my pots! They were a grey color and a couple hours later they were all shriveled up and they are almost gone. Why did it do this? Why did I have mushrooms only in my bell peppers? Thanks

Answer
Mushrooms grow from spores which often travel through the air. They can end up anywhere. When it's dry, they normally live only for a day or two.

I would not worry about it. They will do no harm to the peppers.

In the meantime, make sure the soil is moist 2-3" below the surface. When it is hot and dry, it is very important to water the pots very deeply until you see leakage from the drainage hole.

Have a great weekend.

Mike
