Squirrels/ Repelling with pepper plants

Question
HI, i just had another few questions reguarding squirrel reppeling.  I have been using the repellent Shot-gun, Repells-All.  I have been putting it around my pool bog but the squirrels have still been digging around in the pots.  I have heard they dont like cayenne powder.  If i got some cayenne peeper plants and habanero pepper plants
and put them around the pool would that repell them?  Habanero's are supposed to be hotter than cayenne.  I was just wondering if this would work.  Thanks

Answer
I don't believe these repellents work anywhere near the way the public wishes they would. It is hard enough for them to work to prevent the squirrels gnawing on materials. Stopping a squirrel as some sort of invisible barrier to drive them away is unbelievable. Details on why repellents rarely work the way people want them to is on http://icwdm.org

I am open to having my mind convinced. But I want to see peer-reviewed literature demonstrating effectiveness. Anecdotal stories are a dime a dozen. For everyone that tells me these products work, I get several people telling me what else can they use.
