Squash in containers

Question
I am trying to grow crook neck and zuccini in large containers. The fruits start out ok but some of them shrivle up so i cut them off the pots drain very well so I am watering every other day as it is in the 90's and if I dont' the plants start to wilt.

Answer
Dear Abe,
I wish I had some tried and true words of wisdom for you.  Growing vining plants in containers isn't easy.  It seems the contained soil just depletes before the fruit fully matures or something.  I don't know what to suggest, other than perhaps a feeding schedule for the soil.  We use organic fertilizer and perhaps a scant addition weekly would help.  Fish emulsion or manure might be what your soil needs.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
