ants eating veg. garden from bottom

Please Help.

Answer
Pamela:
Ants are hard to get rid of, but there is really no need to. They don't harm plants.

If aphids are a problem however, the ants can make it worse. Some varieties "farm" aphids - they actually tend them for their honeydew, so they will help the aphid colony grow.

Some ants bite, and this can be quite annoying. If they bother you, you can simply disrupt their colony and they will move somewhere else, though not very far, or you can pour boiling water on it and kill them. This will also kill seedlings however, so that may not be the answer.
