Potted Palm fertilizer?

Question
Hi,  I am writing from the Portland, Or area and I just received 2 very large potted palms from a friend moving away. They have been outdoors for past couple of years facing southwest direction - so pretty hot. They are about 4-5' tall.  They are in very large ceramic pots and appear to drain adequately. I now have them facing east which gets direct sun till about 1 pm.   When I moved them here the many of the leaves tips were dried and brown which I trimmed off and also several leaves were and are getting more yellow. I am not sure if they need more water? Or I think they need fertilizer and have tried to find out what kind to use.  I have Miracle Grown on hand but not sure if that would be the right type. Thanks for the help!

Answer
Maybe the palms are too rootbound in their current pots and need to be repotted into larger pots. If the drainage is too good (almost instantenously and excessively) then this is probably the case.

When repotting, you can use soil mixed with miracle grow slow release fertilizer, or if you do not repot, then water them with 1 tsp of miracle grow per gallon of water.

If you water then frequently and the tips are still burned and leaves continues to yellow then I suspect they need to be repotted into a larger pot.
