artichiokes not budding

Question
I live in Northern California on the coast.  Transplanted artichoke plants from my former yard (where they grew without any attention for years) to oak 1/2 barrels/potting soil, at my new home about three years ago. (south side next to house, some morning shade from fence)  The plants get about 3 feet tall, nice looking leaves but never have any buds.  I use Miracle grow.  Also grow cherry tomatoes, strawberries, and green beans in the same spot without problems.  Any ideas?

Answer
Artichokes are heavy feeders. They need a very well drained, rich soil. Then feed with high nitrogen fertilizer every month.
I would speculate that the plants are adjusting to the move. If they are healthy looking, don't do anything, just be patient. Give them the care you did before when they were doing well, and they will begin to put down roots and produce again.
