Brown Turkey Fig In E. TN

Question
I have a 3' Brown Turkey Fig and am puzzled as to where to plant it.  Our soil is mostly clay.  I read on your site to plant away from winter sun and harsh winter winds...

We live on a high ridge overlooking the Tennessee River.  Our backyard is mostly a southeast exposure, but one end of the yard gets occasional hard winds from the southwest -- unfortunately this is the area where I would like to plant the tree. There isn't a good spot on the other end of the back yard. There are harder winds from the northwest on the front of the house.  Is there hope for a suitable area??

Thank you for your time and advice,
Sue C.

Answer
Hi Sue, We have them all over, here in Florida,,,and we get tremendous storms in the Summer with high winds,,,,they are pretty resilient,,,so I wouldn't be concerned about it. Initially you may want to loosely stake it,,so it will give with the wind, but not uproot,,,but once it establishes itself, it should be fine. Nick
