my fidely fig is getting brown spots

Question
Hi Darlene,
I have a fidely fig that is 7 ft tall and is potted in the original
container i purshased it in 9 months ago.  I bought it through a
plant supplier that caters to lisensed indoor and outdoor
gardeners and he told me to keep it in the pot.
I have the plant in front of a large window that does not getc
direct sunlight.   I water it about every two weeks by pouring in
8 quarts of water that drains through into a tray of which the pot
sits on little ceramic feet to keep it out of the standing water.
The plant has many leaves that are perfectly healthy and there
are new ones on the way.  The ones with brown spots are on the
bottom of the plant and are on about 35 percent of the plant.
Is this normal for a fig?   I have decorative rocks on top of the
dirt and the decorative planter the actual pot sits in is quite
large and to make it taller so it sits flush with the edge i have
soil as a base.  The water seems to run through the pot easily
into the tray.
If you need more info or a photo i will try upon your
instructions.
Thank you!
daniel

Answer
Daniel,

I have a question before I can answer you.  Try scratching the spots and let me know if they scratch off. If they do it is an insect.  If they don't then please email me a closeup picture of one of the leaves with spots to
[email protected]

Thanks.

Darlene
