Long Island Hedge Trimming

Long Island hedge trimming has both ornamental and practical purposes. Hedges are very useful plants; they serve as barriers, both for people and for wind, and they form attractive boundaries within a piece of property. One of the decisions involving Long Island hedge trimming is how high or low to cut the shrubbery. Some shrubs, such as photinia, may be cut a bit lower than other shrubs would be to allow for taller new growth, which is an attractive reddish color.

Privet is a classic hedge whose growth can be controlled through regular efforts to trim bushes, but it naturally grows to a tall height and provides a formidable barrier to wind, blowing sand, and passersby. For more protection still, hedges made of thorned bushes offer the ultimate in impenetrable obstacles. Roses and hollies combine beauty and their own weapons to make interesting barriers for property.

Commercial Long Island Hedge Trimming

Although some homeowners may have electric hedge trimmers, the blades may not always be kept sharp. Dull blades tend to break off the tips of branches and leave dead, brown ends that look ugly. Commercial Long Island hedge trimming leaves cleanly-cut ends that do not draw attention to themselves because of their damaged branches.

Property owners may prefer natural barriers to fences, and they may want to use small hedges as boundaries around flower beds, along edges of walkways, or around several areas in the yard to create a formal look. Hedges are a varied group of plants, and they can be used primarily for their looks or primarily for their impenetrability. Regardless of their purpose, they need to be shaped and have dead wood removed, and residential landscaping companies can keep hedges looking attractive.
