Populus tremuloides

Question
Kathy:

I have three 3-Y/O quaking aspens in my front yard (Reno, NV - east side of house), and this yr they have begun to exude a shiny liquid substance onto the ground.  Their leaves also appear to have a crystallization of some sort on them.  Additionally, they have been dropping many leaves, which they have previously  NEVER done.  I have sprayed them with a commercial OTC product called "Garden Disease Control" by Ortho (chlorothalonil, 26%), without success.

Help!  What do I have and how do I control/stop it?

Thx in advance,

John

Answer
Hi John,  From what I am finding your trees have aphids that is causing the sticky substance.  I would check out Atomic Grow, which is organic, to make your trees healthy again.  AG raises the brix, sugar content, of the tree to make it healthy so the bugs go somewhere else.  You can use it on any of your trees, shrubs, etc.  kathy
