Preparing to lay sod over a previous tree area

Question
As of yesterday, I had three stumps grinded down to about 12 inches below the original surface and want to lay sod.  Since this is a fresh cut, should I remove a few inches of the sawdust/wood clippings, add lime, add a layer of top soil, then sod? Is there a better process?
Thanks, Wes

Answer
Hi Wes, Your plan is good.  You'll probably need to add extra nitrogen for this season because the decomposing sawdust left in the hole will get most of it. I'd spray feed with a high nitrogen fertilizer every 2 weeks and check the pH every 60 days to make sure it stabilizes at 6 - 6.5.  Jim
