Donna,
Thanx for your question.  It depends upon what you want to do.  If you want to propagate deciduous trees and bushes, do not take cuttings now.  Cuttings from these types of plants should be taken in the spring or after blossoming in the summer.  Tropical plants you may take cuttings any time.  I hope this helps.
