Question
I am trying to indentify a maple tree.  The leaf is about 2 inches, with 7 points.  I collected seeds from it.  The tree was in someone's yard.

What would be the best way to germinate the seeds?

Are you sure it isn't a sweet gum?  They have seven points.  The most I could find in my reference on maples was 5 points.  What did the seeds look like?  Do the seeds have a wing on them or are they in a round structure that looks like a prickly ball?  Please post a follow up.
