Question
We didn't have time to start our garden this year and now it is full of weeds that are 5 feet tall. Should we have our neighbor just chop it off with a big mower? Next year we want to cut the  size in half. So could we treat if for weed and seed it this fall with grass after chopping it down? Not sure what to do, but I have fall allergies very badly and am worried about all those weeds. Thanks Ursula

Hi Ursula,
Thanx for your question.  I would have the neighbor chop all of the weeds down with a big mower.  Remove the chopped weeds to a brush pile and burn them.  Keep the area cut down with periodic cuttings throughout this season so you don't allow the weeds to get tall enough to produce seeds.  In the spring, till up the desired section.  This way you don't have to use harmful herbicides and unnecessary chemicals.  I hope this helps.
