nectarines

Question
When the plant starts to grow, how tall will it get and can I keep it indoors for its life span.  Also do I have to have two trees to get them to bare fruit.  I live in Alaska...so I really don't think that putting them outside would be a good idea.

Answer
Nectarine trees can grow anywhere from 15 feet to 30 feet high, depending on the variety. They can be kept indoors as long as they get sufficient sunlight during the day. A sunroom is ideal in cold environments.

Unless the variety you are growing is self-pollinating, you will need at least two trees to produce fruit. Keep in mind that you will also need a pollinator, such as bees.

I do agree with you that putting them outdoors is a bad idea. They are tropical plants and will not survive the winters in Alaska.

Good luck, and please write again if you ever need assistance.

Mike
