Hi Graeme,
Thanx for your question.  Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I have never tried growing eucalyptus from seed but here is a website from Australia that I think you will find very helpful.  The seed is very fine and practically impossible to separate from the chaff.  Older seed germinates with in 2-4 weeks without special treatment unless you are trying to grow varieties from the higher altitudes.  I hope this helps.
