Fertilizing a Japanese Maple Tree

I would like to know what type of Miracle-Gro tree fertilizer spikes are better for a Japanese Maple tree. Should I use the regular tree spikes or the evergreen spikes? I contacted Miracle-Gro twice and got two different answers.

Hi Susan,
Thanx for your question. I am not a tree expert but I would think the regular tree spikes would be best for the maple and the evergreen spikes for conifers and other evergreens. We have a tree expert here at allexperts. His name is Jim Hyland and he was with the US Forestry Service. You can access him by going to Home/Gardening, click on Trees and then click on Trees again.
