tropical hibiscus

Question
I live in New York and I bought a tropical hibiscus - can I bring the plant in the house during the winter and will it bloom next year if I bring it outside during the summer?

Answer
Hi Bernadette,
Thanx for your question.  Yes, you can bring the tropical hibiscus indoors for the winter.  Try to keep it in a west or south facing window.  It will go semi-dormant and drop some of its leaves and slow down in blooming.  Keep it watered enough to keep it from drying out and do not feed it.  After the last frost and when outdoor temperatures are consistently above 50癋, you can move the plant back outdoors.

I hope this helps.
Tom
