African Violet - flower petals drying

Question
I have had this AV for over 6 yrs. The leaves are fine, good color (purple), firm - it is about 12 in. in diameter. It has always bloomed fine.
Recently, some (not all) of the flower petals are drying at their perimeter, becoming dark and dry, very quickly after they begin to bloom. They are also smaller than they were. I have a stem right now with about 7 flowers which looked great until yesterday. One flower is fine, another one has just begin to open and two petals are completely brittle and dry.
I do not know what is wrong and cannot find an answer in the "Violet Care" books I own.
Thank you for the help.

Answer
I will try to help. If you could send a photo it might help. I'll give you my email address at the bottom.
It is difficult to say if you have root rot or another anomaly. You didn't say if your plants are dry or properly moist. It is also entirely possible that you could have what is called crown rot, and it is similar to root rot, caused by too much moisture. If you care to give me a few more details I'd love to try to help.
