bouganvilla planting

Question
I have beautiful bouganvilla plant on the south side of the house.  We'd like to have the same color in another place in the yard.   can we cut off a few branches from our existing bouganvilla and plant them elsewhere?

Answer
Pat, easy to do, just cut semi-woody cutting about 5 inches long and dip them in a rooting hormone, place them in a starter soil mixture and keep it damp, not wet; put a baggie over the pot to simulate a greenhouse type atmosphere. You should have roots in about 2-3 weeks, be sure to check the soil periodically to make sure it doesn't dry out, also remove the baggie each night so it can air out. One other thing Pat, punch some holes in the baggie so it can diffuse heat. Nick
