white flies on orchid tree

Question
My huge orchid tree (12' tall) is infested with white flies.  The leaves are too high to reach to spray and the root system is very huge.  It seems the only sensible thing to do is cut it down.  But, if there is a treatment that might work I'm willing to give it a try.   Any ideas?

Answer
Judy, depending how big the root system is, a large dose of a systemic might work, the tree will take it up into its system and when the white flies feed they will die. I never us it on edibles, but it should be fine on an orchid tree, because I don't think bees pollinate it, but if they do, don;t because you will harm them also. Nick
