Question
I have a northern facing house (in dallas, texas) and i just bought two big pots for the front porch.  The house is tall so even though there is no overhang, the pots don't get any direct sunlight.  I need two big (4 to 5 feet tall) plants for the pots but the nursery i shop at says the sprial spruces i like would not do well in that kind of light.  
Do you have any suggestions for me?  thanks, Tom.

Hey Tom,. I would put a couple of "Majesty Palms" they like dappled light and give a tropical ambiance, another choice would be "Yucca", both are easy to care for and very forgiving when it comes to unintentional neglect. The majesty should be misted each day to prevent spider mites from accosting it, other then that, very little water in the pot, let it dry out between waterings.
