Young Queen Palm

Question
I bought a baby queen palm and noticed that no instructions for re-potting came with it.I want to do it right the first time, so if you could help me out with this, that would be great...thank you

Answer
Hi Cali, pop it out of its nursery container with as much soil attached to the roots as possible and pot it in a 1 gallon container for starts, using a light potting mixture; water it well and then place it in an area where it gets the morning sun (for now). Queens are meant to be in the ground (too large for containers), but for now, until it starts growing, the 1 gallon container is fine. Water it when the soil is dry to touch, don't keep the soil wet, and in about a month when you begin to see definite growth, give it about 2 tablespoons of a well balanced palm fertilizer, thereafter about every 4 months (increasing the amount exponentially)...good luck! Nick
