Palm Tree yellow with brown spots

Question
I have a palm tree that is turning yellow with with brown spots.  I have applied palm fertilizer.  A friend said the soil might be too acidic so I watered in baking soda.  It's been over a month and no improvement with either.  I do not see any "creatures"

Answer
Hi Lynne, it could either be a nutrient deficiency or a fungal problem; you already fertilized, which is good, now spray it down with a Copper Fungicide to handle any fungal problems. You must understand that the existing fronds with the spots will remain until they eventually fall off or are pruned off, its the newly emerging fronds that should be devoid of the problem if it has been rectified. Be patient and watch the new fronds. Nick
