Question
I live in FL. I bought a palm with a common name of the Christmas tree palm.  Can you give me info as to the care of it. I live on the central west coast. I am told it is not hardy.

Hi Kathy, It is actually an "Adonidia" (common name Christmas Palm); it is not hardy and a freeze will severely harm or kill it. Your climate zone is suspect for this delicate a Palm, so I would be sure to place it in a location where it will have a larger tree protecting it from frost, and be ready to protect it should a light freeze threaten. There are numerous ways to do this, but in all fairness, the effort is really not worth it, I would have put a Foxtail or even a Pygmy Date in, they are more hardy and can tolerate cold much better.
