Kill weeds

Question
Hey Jim:
I cleared a lot about 6 months ago and am fighting
nothing but weeds. I live in central Florida and my question is this:
What would you recommend as a real good weed killer?  Maybe something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? Do you know of any I could brew at home?
I am not concernd with growing grass at this point, so that is not an issue.
Thank you for your assistance
Dennis

Answer
IF you want to kill all the weeds I would recommend you spray with a herbicide called Roundup. It will kill anything green. You can get it in quart or gallon containers. In general you mix about 1.5 oz. in 1 gal of water and spray with a pumpup type sprayer. All you need to do in wet the leaves of the plants you want to kill. You do not need to soak the plants. The plant will take up the herbicicde and kill the root system. YOU MUST BEWARE THAT ROUNDUP WILL KILL MOST GREEN PLANTS SO DO NOT SPRAY IT ON ANYTHING GREEN NOT WANTING TO BE KILLED. You can spray roundup near tree trunks as long as you do not spray the leaves. Roundup is a safe herbicide.  Please follow the Roundup lable. The plants will start dying in about a week depending on the temperature. After they are dead you can reseed or sod the area since there will be no residue from the roundup.
