Hail Damage

Question
Hi Jim,
We had a savage hail storm last week, the hail was driven by 60 mph wind.  My trees were stripped of leaves, the pines trees had the new growth sprouts broke off, even the bark is split where the stones hit.I've never seen anything even close to this. I have been told the trees will grow more leaves. What do you think? Thanks, Keith

Answer
These trees may be in trouble. I would suggest you contact the State Forestry Agency in your area (assuming you are in the US) and ask one of their Foresters to come evaluate the damge and advise you. Their phone number should be listed in the local phone book. This is a free service and they can tell you what you need to do about your trees.
