Habiscus tree

Question
Last weekend we bought a braided trunk Habiscus tree, and planted it in a planter on our deck.  Every night there seem to be more and more small caterpillar/worm type things in the soil.  We flick them out and more come.  They are not on the trunk or on the leaves yet, but I am concerned that they are going to kill my plant.  What could they be, are they harmful, and how do I take care of the problem.

Answer
Lisa,

There probably was an infestation in the container media the plant was sold in.  Take it back to the garden center or where ever you bought for them to remedy the situation.  If you bought this at Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot get a refund and take yoour business to a local garden center. If you bought this at a local garden center they will be able to replace or take care of the infestation.  This is the type of problem we do not want to see in the trade.

Good gardening
