Broken Maple Tree Branch

Our grandson snapped a small branch on our ~7' red maple tree. How can I fix that or should I just cut it off?

Answer
No there is not a way to fix a branch that has been broken. I would cut it off back to the trunk but not flush with the trunk. Leave a 1/8-1/4 inch from the trunk. This area is called the branch collar and the wound will heal much faster if it is left. No need to put any wound dressing on it will heal over ok.
