My tree was hit by a car and stripped 1/4 of the bark off the bottom of the tree. Can I do anything to protect the tree or help it to heal? It didn't break the tree just stripped off bark.

Cut the loose bark off the tree and the tree should heal itself. There is not need to put any type of wound dressing on the wound. I would however spray the wound with an insecticide called Merit this will prevent borers (an insect) from attacking the tree and causing damage.
