redwood tree root systems

Question
Did you ever get an answer to your question about the large redwood tree in the yard next door to you?  I have a neighbor complaining about my redwood trees and I want to be informed before I respond to her. My tree is probably about 50" high and both she and I have a pool.  Our pools are both about 30 to 40 feet from the trees.  I am wondering if there is anything else that can be done so that the trees do not have to be cut down?

Answer
Redwoods have a fibrous root system and spread about 1 1/2 times the width of the branches. 30-40 feet from the trees is plenty of room for the roots to not have a problem with the pool. Even IF some roots reached the pool they would be the fine root hairs and would do no damage to the pool or the area around the poll. I would not see there being  any damage from the tree to the pool.
