Dwarf Tree recommendations?

Question
QUESTION: You're my last resort.I have spent thousands of dollars on my yard. Now VA Dominion is going to remove my beautiful in full bloom Redbud (full grown.  They have already removed three crepe myrtles. (They state are too close to power lines)  I need to replace them with trees that are ornamental, yet do not get taller than 8'.  Any suggestions?  Crazy as it may seem the list they have on their website suggests trees that grow 20'+!!  I live in Chesapeake VA and am an avid gardener.  Would appreciate trees that are deciduous or evergreen.  I have used your service before and should know now to come here first!!  Thanks.

ANSWER: I would check with the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service and ask one of their specialist to give you a list of trees that fit your needs that will grow in Va. The crept myrtle could have been pruned back each year to keep them smaller than trees that would get into the lines. Here is the web link to the contact page of Virginia Cooperative Extension

QUESTION: I have already gone to this website and the VA Dominion website - they do not give names of ornamental trees.  They do not have to be crepe myrtles - I was looking for some suggestions that you may know off the top of your head.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Answer

The best bet is check with a local tree nursery and ask for dwarf trees that will grow in your area. Both red bud and crept myrtle do come in dwarf varieties.
