BROKEN WEEPING WILLOW TREE

Question
WE RECENTLY HAD A VERY BAD STORM WITH STRAIGHT LINE WINDS THAT BROKE TWO LARGE LIMBS OUT IF ONE SIDE OF THE TREE. MY QUESTION IS WILL THE TREE REGROW THE BROKEN LIBS OR WILL I HAVE TO CUT IT DOWN. I REALLY LIKE THIS TREE AND DO NOT WANT TO CUT DOWN IF I DON'T HAVE TO.                       THANKS SUE

Answer
It may sprout new growth from the trunk but it will look lopsided for many years until the growth catches up. Willows sprout fairly easily so I would not give up on the tree just yet. Prune the broken limbs to the break and cut any loose bark from the wound. This will help the wound heal faster.
