Moving trees from state to state

Question
I want to take some saplings I have grown in pots from where I currently live in New Jersey to Florida. A friend said that it was not legal to introduce plants from one state to another. They are just red maples and not the state tree for NJ. Is there a law that governs this situation?

Answer
There are some restrictions for some trees species but not maples. The ones restricted are Oak-- STATES REGULATED: AR, IL, IN, IA, KS, KY, MD, MI, MN, MO, NE, NY, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WV, WI, and any other state, where oak wilt is determined to be established.
, dogwood--STATES REGULATED: AL, CT, DE, GA, ID, MD, MA, NJ, NY, NC, OR, PA, SC, TN, VA, WA, WV and any other state where dogwood anthracnose is determined to be established.
, and citrus trees---It is unlawful to move into Florida any and all kinds of citrus trees and parts thereof.
