Ponderosa pine trees

Question
Hello Jim,

I have an acre of mountain land with a home and garage on it. I also have 170 mature Ponderosa pines and 30+ small trees, Some of my larger trees are the size of a bushel basket at the base. I would like to thin some of the bigger trees out so that we have better fire protection. I live in Rye, CO., do you know who I might contact in the southern Colorado area for selling my trees? I don't want them to end up burned in fire place, I would much rather see them used in building something.

Thanks

Tony G

Answer
I do not know any Foresters out that way but I would recommend that you call the Col State Forestry Service and ask one of their Foresters to recommend a forester. Here is the web link to the contact information. I think that would be in the Canon City District. http://csfs.colostate.edu/pages/your-local-forester.html
