Can i pile up dirt around the base of my Sycamore tree without hurting it or them?

YES and NO! You can add soil around a tree as long as the amount does not exceed 2 inches in depth AND not piled up on the trunk. I would not add any soil within 6 inches of the trunk. This area of the trunk is called the root collar and added soil will damage and could kill the tree if the root collar is covered.
