Walnut trees

Question
Hello - I have two walnut trees in my yard which are currently healthy. However, I have both grape vines and apple tress which are diseased(pretty sure black rot). Is it possible for the nut trees to contract the disease from the fruit tress (whether it be black rot or not)?

Thanks so much,

Jean

Answer
You should not have any problem with black rot fungi on mature black walnut trees. There has been cases of black rot on young newly grafted walnut seedlings but not on trees. I found no case of black rot infecting black walnut trees from any source.

It is not possible for the disease to go from the fruit tree to the walnut.
