crepe myrtle and Butterfly bush

Question
We live in Raleigh, NC and have an established crepe myrtle and are putting in 5 more.  When can we shape the older one and should we plant the others first and wait a while to shape them or can we do it right away?
I also have a butterfly bush that I planted in the wrong area and would like to cut it down and transplant it to a better area.  Can I do that now and can I do both things at the same time?
Thanks for your help.
Laura

Answer
Hi Laura
The Butterfly bush you can cut down and move now. Your crape murtles are shaped in mid summer after new growth for the current season is finished. planting new ones should wait until spring and no shaping should take place until after they have established. usually one or two seasons.
Good Luck  Larry  ;-)
