Nandina - or other shrub with berries

Question
In front of a large condominium in Maryland, with a lot of sun, we want a new planting that would be attractive year 'round.  It might be maybe 25 feet wide, 10 feet deep, surrounding the 4' high sign that has our house number.  Along with evergreens (probably yew) we like Nandina because of its winter berries and red leaves but hesitate because we don't know of a small variety that has berries. Large varieties might get ungainly looking and nobody will prune it carefully.  Do you know of a more compact variety of Nandina, or another ornamental, that has winter interest and wouldn't require much care?

Answer
Hello Anne
holly has berries as well and is nice year round but after a while you would have to prune it to maintain size. there are several cultivars of Nandina however you would have to select the one you want one you might consider is called
Richmond and is very actractive in the winter.   Good Luck  Larry  ;-)
