Japonica Azalea

Question
My plant seems to be dying! It's lived well on a balcony in a pot since spring. I think it ended up getting too wet- it's leaves were going brown, so have now put holes in it's pot and it's still dropping leaves and new leaves are still turning brown. How much water does it need, should the soil always be moist? It gets 5 hours of afternoon sun a day- I'm guessing this is too much? Should I re-pot it in a certain soil?

Answer
Helen,
Azaleas do not like too much water. I would recommend trying to repot it into a good topsoil and compost mixture. If at all possible, I would put it into the ground.
Use a light fertilize to stimulate growth when repotting.
Good luck.
